About Me: Hi, I’m Julie Fergerson. I’ve spent much of my career building companies in the eCommerce space and serving as a CEO, leading teams and communities through growth, change, and more than a few unexpected challenges.
This next chapter is a little different. It’s a passion project rooted in something very personal to me: making sure our community is ready when life throws us curveballs. Whether it’s severe weather, extended power or water outages, or any of the other “once-in-a-lifetime” events that seem to be happening more often these days, I want to help people feel prepared—not scared. This is about practical readiness, shared knowledge, and looking out for each other.

The inspiration: After living without power for days and without water for a week during Snowmageddon and that massive Texas ice storm, I was surprised to see how unprepared many of my friends and neighbors really were when the basics went out. Those experiences made me realize just how vulnerable most of us are when power, water, and normal infrastructure fail.
Then, in 2025, while I was in Spain hosting a conference, the entire country lost power for an extended period. That experience — followed by the European Union’s preparedness advisory urging citizens to have food and water on hand — really got me thinking. Here is a link to the European Union’s plan in case you are interested: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_25_856?utm_source=chatgpt.com
I’ve always had some exposure to preparedness through Scouting. I grew up in Scouts, later served as an assistant scoutmaster, led a Venture Crew, and helped lead a great group of girls in Scouts as well. Over the years, I’ve helped several kids earn their Eagle Scout rank and picked up a lot of practical training along the way. It was never about extreme survival skills—just learning how to think ahead, take care of people, and handle basic situations calmly.
Like a lot of people, I started researching what to do and quickly got overwhelmed. How much food? How long should it last? What kind of water storage? And honestly, some of the online prepper groups were… well, a little intense. There’s great information out there, but a lot of it involves spending thousands of dollars and going full survivalist — which isn’t realistic for most of us.
So Shawn and I decided to start our own journey, breaking things down into simple, practical, affordable steps to be prepared — without the panic. This group is our way of sharing what we’ve learned, what’s worked for us, and helping others in our community build everyday resilience — calmly and confidently.
